Planning a Bridal Shower

Planning the wedding shower is the second most exciting thing before the wedding. We're talking about a party that is both fun and practical at the same time. Also, the married couple receives presents for their new home. The planning of a wedding shower actually represents the bridal party and an opportunity for the bride's close friends and the couple’s families to relax and share some great moments together. Planning a shower is not as stressful as planning the wedding. The bride is the queen of the day, so every detail is centered around her.

Planning the wedding shower is usually the entire responsibility of the maid-of-honor and the bridesmaids. So, there are a few guidelines you'd like to follow when throwing this bash. The normal date to organize is within two months before the wedding. The biggest element to consider when planning a wedding shower is who you are going to invite. You can either make it 'girls only' or a couple event that is more commonly known as 'Jack and Jill' shower. Try to have all the details covered up when planning a wedding shower, the ice breaker games included.

In many cases planning the wedding shower can be throwing a beach barbecue party, a get-together at someone’s home, music and dancing, that brings a relaxed atmosphere of fun and great joy. The bride may be included in the planning of the wedding shower, particularly since you have to make sure not to bring people that are not invited to the wedding too. Or, you can do it as a surprise. In that case, include someone who knows who’s invited to the wedding. It may be a good idea to plan shower with a theme in mind. Using the wedding colors/theme might be a good start. For the 'girls only' kind of party, it may focus on kitchen items or lingerie. Planning a wedding shower is great fun, so don't miss it!

When planning the wedding shower, don't forget to provide some small ‘goodie bags’ for the guests. A box of chocolate candies would be really appropriate for the occasion for instance. Another tip for the planning of the wedding shower is the attention you pay to decorations. Remember that we're talking about inexpensive, yet totally effective items that fill the main function of creating a great atmosphere. Decorations are a must. Games! Don’t forget the games and prizes. There's no better way to break the ice and make everybody open up. Check out my additional list of links to bridal shower games. Have fun!

CHECKLIST SUMMARY:

Who: Who’s helping to plan the shower? Who’s in charge of what? Who are invited? Is it a surprise?

When: Date and time of party. Afternoon and dinner gatherings on a weekend are typical. Afternoon might usually be better. Especially with all the fun activities you have planned. Also, when to start sending out invites. No more than 4-6 weeks ahead is ideal. I’ve had invites pretty far ahead. We always ended up losing the invitation and forgetting the date, time, and place. Only a couple weeks notice can be too short.

Where: At the beach? Restaurant? Someone’s home? Renting a big karaoke room is fun as well.

What: Theme? Decorations? Food? Games? Prizes? Goodie bags?
